This is what your project will look like from start to finish. |

PRE PRODUCTION |
In the first step of the recording process, you will meet with Patrick to either begin the writing process, or make sure your songs are ”album worthy”. He has, at times, started with a dry-erase marker and white board. Patrick’s primary focus will be to make sure you have the necessary material to end up with a great product. As you might imagine, this can take anywhere from several meetings over several months to one "power meeting" (if your songs are ready and incredible).
ROUGHS (OR SCRATCH) VOCALS AND GUITAR OR PIANO
This is where you (or we, if you don’t play an instrument) lay down the rough version of your song, typically guitar or piano and vocal, to which we will later add all the other instruments. We put a lot of value in a good rough performance, as a bad one can greatly compromise the outcome of the track.

RECORDING - DRUMS, BASS |
These typically go down together at Canvas Burning with a professional on drums and Patrick on bass. We definitely will encourage your presence for this part, as it is an incredibly important and exciting few days of your project.

RECORDING - GUITARS, PIANO AND WHATEVER THE SONGS NEEDS |
All guitars, keys, percussion, and whatever instruments are appropriate for the song (and trust me we have most at our disposal) will go down next. Mike even has a banjo.

RECORDING - VOCALS |
This is, obviously, where you lay down the final vocal. We will get three passes of your best. Then Patrick will go through those later, making a composite of those three that is truly the best of you. This is really how it’s done- or did you think Britney really sang that well? Not that we think Britney sings well, for the record.

MIXING |
Once the music is recorded, the sound is sent to a mixing board where the individual tracks that make up a multi-track recording are combined and processed to create the final stereo recording.

MASTERING |
This is the last stage of the production process where the project is prepared as a finished stereo mix for distribution as an audio CD by making final adjustments to the overall sound of the recording. How the final product sounds has a great deal to do with musical arrangement and the tools used to produce it.

CD PACKAGING |
Now it’s time to meet with Mike, aka Mandrew, to figure out your theme for the record to enable him to design the packaging that best suits your personality and music. Mike is an artist and your project will reflect his incredible abilities. At this time, you will need to have all of your written information together that you want included to Mike for the CD design.

PROMOTIONAL |
We will help point out resources to send your CD for self-promotion. We have a lot of experience with this, since we are recording artists ourselves. Many of our past projects have had doors open simply by dropping a name here or there. |
